    S&P 500 index has risen by an average 6.2% during an election year, making it the second-best after the pre-election year. Also, a Republican win during the election year has coincided with better full-year returns. Indeed, on average, the best returns in an election year happens if the incumbent party wins. Conversely, when the party in power changes, on average, the S&P500 has delivered negative returns.
